Title: | Another district nurse | Authors: | Woy Woy Herald | Issue Date: | 20-May-1964 | Abstract: | Article regarding the appointment of a second district nurse in Woy Woy in the Woy Woy Herald, 20th May 1964. "Another district nurse". No Image. | Description: | After constantly raising money and making requests to the Hospital Commission, a voluntary workers group known as the Woy Woy Area District Nursing Service Association have obtained a second district nurse for the Woy Woy area. The new nurse, Sister Warnecke commenced duties last Monday and joins Sister Phegan who has been the sole district nurse for some time. The appointment of a new nurse will greatly improve the service for the district’s population of 22,000. To cover costs, the Association must raise approximately £1000 per year. Two years ago Rev. I. Davidson became president and the association now has more than 40 members. The Woy Woy Lions Club has been particularly helpful, but the association members are working continually to keep the service operating. It was decided to start the social afternoons in the Ambulance Hall at Ettalong again and the Ettalong Memorial Club will hold a special evening in May in aid of the Service. | URI: | https://elibrary.cclhd.health.nsw.gov.au/cclhdjspui/handle/1/1233 | Publicaton type: | Memorabilia | Subject: | Newspaper Articles;Nursing |
