"Medical Breakthrough: New Sterilising Technique Devised by Operating Theatre Technician". Image 1: The Supervisor of the Central Sterile Supply Department at Gosford District Hospital and the man who perfected a new technique which will help patients and staff, Mr. Frank Bryant. | Description: | "Medical Breakthrough: New Sterilising Technique Devised by Operating Theatre Technician" details the new sterilising technique as found by operating theatre technician, Mr Frank Bryant at Gosford District Hospital. This new technique of steam-sterilisation for plastic tubes and values in respirators cut the time of sterilisation from two days down to 40 minutes. Previously manufactures had banned autoclaving (steam-sterilising) on the plastic parts due to deterioration but by using a lower temperature and pressure, Mr Bryant was able to work around this and fears of deterioration were unfounded. Enquires are flooding in from other hospitals for this new technique. | URI: | https://elibrary.cclhd.health.nsw.gov.au/cclhdjspui/handle/1/528 | Publicaton type: | Memorabilia Image Memorabilia Image |
