This was announced at the official opening of the new nurses school training block. A land purchase of $25,000 adjacent to the hospital has been bought for the new theatre extension. The growth of the hospital to support its patients has also required the hospital to be one of the largest employers in the district with 229 staff. Other extensions planned include the expansion of the nurses home from 30 beds to 100 beds and a development of specialised clinics.
