Description: "Costly Home Service Real District Asset" detail the hard work of the sisters working in the District Nursing Service with around 30,380 patients visited in the past year by the seven nurses. These nurses are Sister Joan Fagan and Edna Warnecke, Eileen Pollock, Nanette Tindale, Barbara Donnelly, Eliane Mckay and Barbara Tiller. Sister Pollock believes that social welfare work is as important in the visits she makes and visits on average 100 patients weekly. Often there is no charge or a $1 fee. This results in a deficit of around $30,000. While local fund-raising do place money towards this, more money is needed and in particular more equipment. Mr Boyce believes that the home service is beneficial to both the hospital as well as the patients - freeing around 100 beds in the hospital.
