Mentioned is the expansion of the hospital to twice its former size at a cost of $1,120,000. Financially, the hospital ran at a surplus and staff has risen to 164. Introductions were made foe Dr Ian Walters as the new Medical Superintendent and renovations are being made on the old section of the hospital. District Nursing visits have increased to 30,380. Board members for the year are R. M. Vaughan (Chairman), R. Hill (Vice-chairman), H. Craft (Treasurer), Committees - R. M. Vaughan and Mrs Westerweller (House), R. M. Vaughan, Messrs N. Byrnes, R. Brown and H. Craft (finance). Mr R. G. Mathews announced his retirement from the Chairman of the Board.en
