Abstract: Clinical practice guidelines provide both local and global recommendations for the use of iron therapy in the management of anaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. However, physicians must interpret and adapt these guidelines to meet the specific needs of their individual patients. The recommendations must also be considered in the context of findings from more recently published clinical trials and observational studies.
